Hello!
My name is Katie Troske, and I am the Editor-in-Chief of Mid-Pacific's Na Pueo Newspaper.
Now a senior in high school at Mid-Pacific Institute, my journey with journalism and writing started from the moment I stepped on campus freshman year and discovered Na Pueo Newspaper. I have transitioned from staff writer to two-time section editor, finishing as Na Pueo’s Editor-in-Chief. Through the years, I have developed a strong sense of leadership as both an editor and a voice for the student body. My experience spans across multiple fronts, from overseeing the paper’s print layout to mentoring new writers while encouraging productivity and excellence in my peers. I am approachable and personable, fostering a sense of community in the newsroom and emphasizing the growth of our collective ability. I am proud to have received a national Best of SNO News Writing award and three Hawai’i High School Journalism Awards, including a Best in State Opinion Writing award.
